Dr. Hao is the daughter of an elementary school principal and a mathematics professor. She went on to graduate school at age 19 with her bachelor degree from the prestigious Wuhan University. Dr. Hao earned her PhD in virology with a full scholarship from the Ohio State University. She worked as a senior research scientist at University of Wisconsin and Howard Hughes Medical Institute before moving to Mercer Island with her family.
Dr. Hao's volunteer experience cuts across the entire school microcosm, from working with students to school district fundraising.
Dr. Hao is the founding board member of the Mercer Island Chinese Association (MICA), whose mission is to maintain social interactions and to promote cultural and educational awareness of the Chinese community in Mercer Island and the Great Seattle area.
Linhui and her husband Dr. Xiaoyu Liu moved to Mercer Island, of course, for the schools in 2016. She has two children, daughter Madison is attending IMS and Steven is in the MIHS. Xiaoyu is the lead bioinformatics scientist at Swedish Cancer Institute.
